  • 1 cup of sliced mushrooms
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper

Instructions

  1. Rinse the jasmine rice in a fine-mesh strainer and let it drain for 20-30 minutes.

Low calorie indonesian mushroom rice recipe substitutions

To make this Indonesian Mushroom Rice recipe lower in calories, some substitutions can be made. White rice can be replaced with cauliflower rice or brown rice. If using brown rice or cauliflower rice, increase the water to 2 1/2 cups to allow for the longer cooking time. Instead of using full-fat coconut milk, light coconut milk or almond milk can be used as a substitute. Vegetable oil can be swapped out for a non-stick cooking spray to reduce the amount of oil used. Additionally, the amount of salt can be reduced or replaced with a salt substitute or spices such as garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika can be used to enhance the flavor. By making these substitutions, this recipe can be a healthier, low-calorie option without compromising on taste.

What to serve with a indonesian mushroom rice?

Indonesian mushroom rice is a flavorful dish that can be enjoyed on its own or as a side dish. To complement its earthy taste, you can pair it with a variety of dishes that have contrasting textures and flavors. Some great options include grilled or roasted vegetables, such as asparagus or sweet potatoes, a fresh side salad with a tangy dressing, or a protein-rich main dish like grilled chicken or tofu. Additionally, you can add some crunchy toppings like roasted nuts or crispy fried onions to give the rice dish some texture. Don’t forget to garnish with fresh herbs like cilantro or parsley to add a pop of freshness to the dish.

Whats the best sauce for a indonesian mushroom rice?

For Indonesian mushroom rice, a great sauce would be Sambal Kecap, which is a sweet and spicy sauce commonly used in Indonesian cuisine. This sauce is made from kecap manis, a sweet soy sauce, mixed with diced chilies, shallots, lime juice and salt. The sweet and savory flavor of the sauce complements the umami taste of mushrooms in the rice dish perfectly. To make the Sambal Kecap, simply mix all the ingredients in a bowl and serve alongside the rice dish.

Indonesian mushroom rice health benefits

Indonesian mushroom rice can have several health benefits. Mushrooms are low in calories and high in nutrients such as potassium, vitamin D, and B vitamins. Rice provides carbohydrates for energy and is also low in fat. However, the nutritional value of Indonesian mushroom rice depends on the way it is prepared. If a lot of oil or sodium is added to the recipe, it may not be as healthy. To make this dish even healthier, you could add more vegetables to increase the fiber content and use brown rice instead of white to add more nutrients. Alternatively, a vegetable stir-fry with brown rice would be a healthier option as it would be packed with nutrients and fiber while also being low in fat and calories.
